📄 What is an apostille?

An apostille is an official formality that authenticates the signature, the capacity of the signatory and, where applicable, the seal or stamp on a public document. Since 1 May 2025, apostilles in France have been issued by the notarial service through 15 competent centres. They apply where the Hague Convention and the destination country's rules require them.

🔏 What is a sworn translation?

A sworn translation is prepared by an expert translator registered with a Court of Appeal and bears the translator's stamp and signature. The receiving authority remains responsible for confirming the documents and formalities it requires.

⚠️ Non-eligible documents

Certain documents cannot be apostilled:

• Documents issued by foreign authorities
• Uncertified photocopies
• Private documents without official certification
• Incomplete or damaged documents
